Legend Cars Motorsport: The Company

The Idea to start Legend Cars came about rather like iron particles being drawn to a magnet. The motivating force is a strong passion for not only conserving, but recreating classical sports racing cars in South Africa. The Father & Son team of Gavin & Grant Orbell, who run Legend Cars, come with a vast amount of experience, enthusiasm & credibility.

Gavin, who started a plastics company (Mototech Pty Ltd) in 1981, recently sold his shares & retired, with a view to start doing things that he would like to do. He has raced most of his life, from off and on road motorcycles to circuit cars and off-road cars. Grant started his racing career in Karts at the age of 11. Among the entries in his racing CV, you will find two South African Championships, three sets of Provincial colours, and a number of international appearances, including the Le Mans 24 Hour, in 1999, for which he was awarded his Springbok Colours in Motorsport. Both Gavin & Grant believe in the strong principles of preparing their own equipment & in motorsport, only the best is good enough.

The Company operates at present out of a workshop complex 10 km north of Lanseria Airport in Gauteng, within the Oori Private Game Farm, on the Crocodile River.

Legend Cars Motorsport: The Team

In addition to Gavin and Grant, Legend Cars Motorsport employ four proficient staff members to prepare and maintain cars for their customers.

Included in the Legend Cars Motorsport stable are two BMW powered Caterham SV400s, two Suzuki Hayabusa powered Speads RS08's, a turbo-charged Suzuki Hayabusa powered ADR, two VW powered Nardini's, a Formula Volkswagen and a Ford Cosworth powered Chevron B16.

Legend Cars Motorsport's professional and meticulous approach to race preparation has earned the company great respect and wide recognition in motorsport circles within South Africa and as far afield as England.
